Week Forty-One Prompt

The only family I have is my mother. As far as I know, everyone else has been dead before I was born. My mother tells me that my parents died in some accident when she was sixteen or something, however, she's never told me what exactly that accident was or where she comes from originally.
All I know is that she definitely does not come from Costa del Sol. The place was basically started by Shinra as a resort town for their employees. They hired people, including my mom, to live there. At some point, it was opened to people outside the company, but it never really was a real town to begin with. My mother took the job because she was young and wanting to do something other than live with some friends of her parents. I've asked her numerous times what town she came from or what her parents did, but she never has answered my questions. She's just all too happy to live in Costa del Sol where the sun is almost always shining, especially now that Shinra doesn't run the place anymore.
But I wasn't happy there and I'm not happy not knowing. She wouldn't have even told me who my father was if it wasn't for the fact that I found my birth certificate. I had to demand an explanation for the strange name that was on there. So she told me, but I wasn't to tell anyone else.
That really annoyed me, but what was I to do? It wouldn't do me much well to be associated with my father after all, considering I want to study biology. At least I can find information on him easily, he's well-known enough. Oh and it turns out I had a half-brother, but he was dead years before I was born. Well, officially dead that is.
I've probably said far too much, but it's not like I've seen anyone from my world here, so who would know?
